HOLDEN – BCM Brake Lamp Repair

Overview:

The stop lights in the Holden Commodore VE series, as well as the Statesman/Caprice WM series, may fail to operate or remain illuminated due to a failure in the Body Control Module (BCM), (part number #15921353)
The BCM is responsible for controlling the operation of the stop lights, including the centre high mounted stop lamp.

It is a frequent occurrence for the stop light failure issue to occur after the vehicle has been utilized for towing, as the root cause may be attributed to either an short or overloaded  circuit.
Replacing the factory specific 15A fuse with a higher amperage fuse may also
attribute to this issue.

The BCM is located on the right-hand side of the steering column and can be accessed by removing the steering column panel/fuse panel cover & panel above the drivers pedals.

Prior to sending in your BCM for repair we advise you perform a brake pedal position learn procedure and also check the Brake Pedal Position Sensor (BPPS) provides a voltage between 0-5V on the output depending on the position of the pedal.

Warning:
It is recommended that customers have their stop lights and associated wiring, as well as their trailer, checked before reinstalling the BCM to prevent further damage.

Common symptoms:

Brake Lights not functioning
Brake Lights stuck ON
